A New Synthesis

This book sets out a vast cosmological vision whereby all that exists, space, time , matter, swirling galaxies and human consciousness all of them come into existence through the "big bang". The quantum vacuum, the nothing which is everything, oscillates, and the cosmos we know is made manifest. Existence is then the long pilgrimage whereby all that there is returns to the Divine Source.
This is an ancient story told in the West by the Neo-Platonists and in the East by Hindus and Buddhists. It was told in the 20th century by Sri Aurobindo, and it is told again today by Frank Parkinson who uses the latest theories of cosmology to weave together physics, biology, theology and philosophy to make a new vision for the 21st century. Of course such a synthesis will evoke bitter criticism on all fronts. Physicists will complain that his equations for the "Big Bang" are wrong, and, if not wrong, at least unverified, and if verified, bound to be rendered obsolete in a years time. The Biologists will say his account of evolution is too optimistic and value orientated, while the theologians will complain that he makes no use of scripture, or the traditions of the church, and therefore has no right to talk about "God". The philosophers will point out that he has not analysed the concept of "creation" with sufficient linguistic precision.
Such carping should be ignored. Final solution to God , the universe, and everything, this is not, but it does point the way to a new path of thought in our times . It will outmode all the old arguments about the conflict between science and religion, and provide mankind with a new and deeper vision of its own destiny.
