ALEXANDRA ASSEILLY - Following a vision she had in l997 concerning the cycle of violence, Alexandra Asseily
initiated The Garden of Forgiveness in Beirut, Lebanon. As witness of the pain of the civil war in Lebanon,
she decided to explore her own responsibility for peace and became a psychotherapist. She is a governor and
founder of the Centre for Lebanese Studies, Oxford and a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for
the Study of World Religions at Harvard.
SUZANNE CRATER, RN, ANP-C has worked in cardiology at Duke University/Durham VA Medical Center
and with the Cardiac Ischemia and Interventional Program and the Ischemia Monitoring Laboratory - Duke
Clinical Research Institute, for 11 years. She is co-director of the MANTRA Study Project She has lectured
across the country on healing practices including touch therapy, music, prayer, and imagery, and was
instrumental in developing the noetic intervention arms of the MANTRA pilot and phase II studies.
DR.PETER FENWICK, MB (CANTAB), BCHIR, FRC PSYCH, DPM is Emeritus Consultant Neuropsychiatrist,
Maudsley Hospital and Honorary Consultant Neurophysiologist, St. Thomas's Hospital. He is a Vice-President
of the Scientific and Medical Network and President of the Horizon Foundation.
PROFESSOR DAVID FONTANA, BA, MED,PHD, CPSYCHOL is Visiting Professor of Transpersonal Psychology at
Liverpool John Moores University and President of the Transpersonal Section of the British Psychological
Society. For many years he has studied the relationship between Western and Eastern psychological systems,
together with methods for deepening and expanding consciousness, and has written widely on dreams,
meditation and psycho-spirituality. His most recent book is Psychology, Religion and Spirituality . He is
currently writing a major book on death and survival.
DR.MITCHELL W. KRUCOFF,MD is Associate Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at Duke University Medical
Center where he practices as an interventional cardiologist and serves as Director of the Cardiovascular
Laboratories at the Durham VA Medical Center. Mitch is past Editor in Chief of the journal Alternative
Therapies in Health and Medicine. He has published more than 100 articles and book chapters on various
aspects of cardiology, coronary care, spirituality and complementary medicine. He is the principal investigator
of the Monitoring and Actualization of Noetic Trainings (MANTRA) Study Project at the Duke Clinical
Research Institute.
DR.JEFF LEVIN,PHD, MPH an epidemiologist and former medical school professor, is the pioneering
scientist and author whose research in the 1980s helped create the field of religion, spirituality, and health.
He is author of over 130 scholarly publications, as well as five books, including God, Faith, and Health.
Jeff is a past president of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine
(ISSSEEM), and is currently researching the physical and mental health effects of experiencing a loving
relationship with God.
DAVID LORIMER, MA, PGCE is Programme Director of the Scientific and Medical Network and Chair of
Wrekin Trust. He recently edited Thinking Beyond the Brain and his book on the Prince of Wales's
philosophy and work - Radical Prince - will be published in the autumn of 2003.
DR.ANDREW POWELL, MA, MB, BCHIR, MRCP, FRCPSYCH is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist who
formerly held consultant and senior academic appointments in the Health Service. Having specialised in the
field of analytical therapies, he later became deeply interested in soul-centred therapies and the nature of
the healing process. He is co-author with Dr. Bisong Guo of Listen to your Body - the Wisdom of the Dao.
Andrew is founder chair of the Spirituality and Psychiatry Special Interest Group in the Royal College
of Psychiatrists.
DR.JANET QUINN,PHD, RN, FAAN is adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of
Nursing. Her research on Therapeutic Touch has been funded by the Federal Department of Health and Human
Services and she serves as a peer reviewer for research grants at the National Institutes of Health National
Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She is also a spiritual director and counsellor in private
practice Janet lectures and consults internationally on Integrative Medicine, Recovering the Heart of Nursing,
Therapeutic Touch, Care for the Caregiver, and Spirituality and Healing.
CANON BEAUMONT STEVENSON BA, MDIV MINSTGA is Chaplain of the Oxfordshire Mental Healthcare Trust,
Pastoral Care Adviser in the Diocese of Oxford and a Member of the Institute of Group Analysis. He teaches
on the Counselling Principles and Practice course at Oxford Brookes University and is in private practice.
DR.BART VAN DER LUGT,MD,PHD is a consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist who is Chair of the Scientific
and Medical Network Council. He is also President of the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Foundation in the
Netherlands and Co-founder and Chair of the Rotterdam Cancer Help Centre.
